What is Pealock?
A smart electronic lock that protects bikes, skis, scooters, strollers and other gear from theft.
How does Pealock work?
You lock it with the app or an NFC card. Close by, it talks to your phone over Bluetooth. When you walk away, it switches to mobile data through its own SIM card.
How do I turn Pealock on?
Click the buckle into the lock. The ring starts flashing green.
What's in the box?
The lock with strap and buckle, a manual, an NFC card, a SIM tool and a USB-C charging cable.
Do I need a smartphone?
No. You can lock and unlock with the NFC card from the box. We recommend the phone as a backup.
Can I use a smartwatch?
No. Only the phone app or NFC accessories.
How do I restart Pealock?
Plug the lock into power, open the buckle and hold the NFC card to it 3 times until it flashes red.

Why do I need a subscription?
For GPS location, the map and phone alerts when you are out of Bluetooth range.
How much is it and how do I pay?
19 € a year, and the first month is free. Pay in the app under Account, Payment management.
Where does data work?
In EU countries and the UK.
Can I put my own SIM card in the lock?
No. The SIM card is built in at the factory and adapted to the lock.

Where do I get the app?
Free on the App Store and Google Play.
Can I set an alarm delay?
Yes, from 0 to 5 seconds in the app. When the lock stays still for 5 seconds, the alarm stops on its own.
Can I connect the lock to several phones?
Yes, but it works with one at a time. In settings you choose which number the lock calls.
Can I have several locks on one phone?
Yes. Add another lock with the + button on the app's home screen.
How do I find my lock?
Its location shows on the map in the app. GPS needs open sky and is taken when you lock and when the alarm goes off.

How long does the battery last?
About 40 hours while locked. An unlocked lock barely uses any battery.
How do I unlock it with a flat battery?
The app warns you at 20 %. At 10 % the lock unlocks itself.
What do 300 charge cycles mean?
The battery keeps about 80 % of its capacity for 300 charges. After that, capacity slowly drops.
Can I keep the lock locked for a long time?
Yes, if it is connected to mains power or a power bank with a USB-C cable. Handy for a basement or bike room.

Can Pealock handle rain and snow?
Yes, it is rated IP33. Attach it upright and don't leave it unlocked in the rain with the opening facing up.
Isn't the strap easy to cut?
The strap is made of tough thermoplastic elastomer with steel cables inside. A wire in the strap sets off the alarm if it is cut.
Bikes and skis4 questions
How do I attach it to a bike?
Frame to rear wheel, frame to a rack, or two bikes together. The strap is 35 cm long.
Does the alarm go off as soon as someone moves my skis?
That depends on the delay you set (0 to 5 seconds), so a quick bump won't trigger it.
Can I lock skis together with poles?
Yes, adjust the strap length with the buckle.
How do I carry the lock?
In a backpack, a jersey back pocket or a bag. It weighs 170 g.
